Charcot Foot

Bone weakening and deformity due to nerve damage.

Charcot Foot: A Hidden Risk in Diabetes

Charcot Foot is a serious complication of diabetes that causes the bones and joints in the foot to weaken, collapse, and change shape. Because of nerve damage, you may not feel pain, but the foot often looks red, swollen, and warm—signs that are easy to mistake for infection.

Why it matters: If untreated, Charcot Foot can lead to severe deformity, ulcers, and even amputation.

What to do:

  • Watch for sudden swelling, redness, or changes in foot shape.

  • Avoid walking barefoot and wear protective footwear.

  • Seek immediate podiatry care if you notice symptoms.

At Podiatree Clinic, we provide early diagnosis, custom footwear, and advanced treatment to protect your feet and prevent complications.
